Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of mainland India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean converge. This is the only place in India where you can watch the sun rise and set over the sea from the same spot. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, built on a rock 500 metres offshore where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892, and the 133-foot Thiruvalluvar Statue are iconic landmarks. The Kumari Amman Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, has drawn pilgrims for centuries. Kanyakumari is 85km from Trivandrum and 710km from Cochin.
